The ALPACA project, led by Mariska Vansteensel and Mathijs Raemaekers, has recently been awarded funding through the NWO Open Technology Programme. This initiative supports innovative research that addresses societal and scientific challenges, and ALPACA is a perfect example!
What is ALPACA about?
While implanted Brain-Computer Interfaces (iBCIs) are advancing rapidly, individuals with quadriplegic cerebral palsy have been largely excluded from these developments. ALPACA aims to change that. The project will develop and validate a non-invasive, easy-to-use EEG-based assessment tool to determine whether someone is eligible for an iBCI.
