PhD Candidate
Tess van de Vijver
ABOUT Tess
Tess is a PhD candidate at the Utrecht BCI Lab. She has a bachelor’s degree in Psychobiology from the University of Amsterdam and a master’s degree in Cognitive Neuroscience, with a specialization in Neurotechnology and Natural Computing from Radboud University. She is interested in applied neurotechnological research that can help people for whom no solution currently exists.
Her research contributes to the ALPACA project, which aims to develop an EEG-based software tool to assess the eligibility of people with cerebral palsy (CP) for an implanted brain computer interface (iBCI), a group not currently considered for iBCIs.
To achieve this, she is working on integrating fMRI and EEG analysis, so that people with CP do not need to undergo an fMRI scan as part of the eligibility assessment.
