Registration and Imaging of Brain Systems

The RIBS group is a group of people doing research on the brain at the research facilities of  University Medical Center in Utrecht, using a plethora of methods to measure brain function, such as fMRI and ECoG. In the RIBS group all scientists have their home department, like Neurology and Neurosurgery and Radiology, but we are all working together on the RIBS Server System administered by  Vincent Kersten. There are currently several fundamental and applied  topics of active research in the group, namely:

  • the development of Brain-Computer Interfaces for adults and children wth severe paralysis;
  • development of software for BCI home-use;
  • the relationship between functional MRI and the underlying neuronal activity;
  • the development of tools for simulation of neuronal bioelectrical activity and for neurosurgical mapping.
