ABOUT Maria

Maria is a PhD student in the Utrecht-BCI group. She completed her research master’s degree in ‘Behavioural and Cognitive Neuroscience’ at the University of Groningen. Her research focuses on how the brain represents hand movements and how this knowledge can enhance brain-computer interfaces. She works on decoding ipsilateral and contralateral hand movements from the primary motor cortex using (laminar) fMRI and electrocorticography (ECoG). Specifically, she aims to better understand the nature of ipsilateral motor representations.
